This photo is so funny. Kalia is lining up to take our photo we are hoping for our heads in the picture, bonus if she gets the lighthouse, expectations are low. The camera is heavy for her and the lens is moving up and down as she trying to see into the viewfinder. We are ducking trying to help her out by getting ourselves in the circle. She snaps the photos and we check it out for accuracy. We got this image. Sean and I look at each other and laugh at the perfection of this pic.
At the end of Hilton Head Island they have created a giant outdoor room. These red rockers sit on a porch just outside tiny shops across from the marina. The view of the sunset just passed the lighthouse with an ice cream cone in hand is a postcard perfect moment in time. Exploring the world is fantastic. There are so many beautiful places to see.
We took a side trip to Savannah, Georgia. We found it to be a lovely small town with abundant charm.

We grabbed some sandwiches and sat in the park listening to a wonderful serenade by a lone saxophonist. Kalia took him a little something for his talent and he played her the only request she could think of Jingle Bells.
On the river front, Kalia took to chatting with this friendly artist. She was asking all sorts of questions and he saw in her the desire to create. He gave the kids an impromptu art lesson. He picked up a scrap of wood, used a rock he found on the ground to sand it smooth, he drew a sketch of the bridge in the background with the boat on the opposite side of the block. He showed the kids how to see art all around them, and to use the earth as their tools. In a moment he went from artist to art teacher.
Kalia is friendly and brave, she is interested in everything. She is a lovely girl, I am lucky to be her mom.
So this is holiday traffic. We passed 3 fender benders in the two hours we were on the freeway. Thankfully, the GPS led us to the cotton field highway. The long way round saved our fender, and our sanity. Also, FYI gas is 30 cents cheaper in South Carolina.
